HINDRAF vs BERSIH, you are RACIST!
10th Nov 2007, Bersih Rally, a Coalition for Free and Fair Election held at Kuala Lumpur, submitting a memorandum to the King. Last Sunday, 24th Nov 2007, in Batu Caves, there is the Hindraf Rally. Both rallies had about 30,000 participants; both had been threatened from tear gas and water cannon by the police force.
However, quoted from a report in MALAYSIAKINI, the GCC (Group of Concerned Citizens) representative M.Manohar claimed that the police had been selective by remanding and charging the Hindraf supporters but not those who joined Bersih Rally. This is because most of the supporters of the Bersih rally are Malays while the Hindraf supporters were mainly Indians? “Suhakam must find out why no one was remanded or charged over the Bersih rally. We believe there is some racial element involved,” a statement from Manohar to SUHAKAM.
Is this a wise action to be taken? Is that so important to make the comparison and find out why Bersih protesters were not charged over the rally? Didn’t you think that may create mayhem in the society?
Now, here comes the issue. Abide of who is right and who is wrong. Think of this, why is there racist? What is the term ‘racist’ or‘racism’ refers to?
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, racism is a belief or ideology that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially to distinguish it as being either superior or inferior to another race or races. The Merriam-Webster's Webster's Dictionary defines racism as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race, and that it is also the prejudice based on such a belief
How many races are there in Malaysia?
I tell you what- there is only ONE race in Malaysia.
Who? The Malays? No, they are not the Malays, not the Bumiputras but the Malaysians! The true Malaysians. after There are no Malays, Chinese, Indian so far and so on. There is only ONE race! “Satu Bangsa, Satu Negara!” (Malaysians for Malaysia).
Come on, wake up all Malaysian! After 50 years independence, still the people not to be able to claim oneself as Malaysian? Look at yourself; look at the ground you are stepping on, “Tanah Tumpahnya Darahku” is what you learned to sing since you were young. Forget about being Malays, Chinese, Indians; forget about the UMNO, MCA, MIC, forget about the skin colour.
Now, tell the world that you are a Malaysian!
